Retired DOS Games

These games were written during the DOS era on 486 processors. Graphics, sound, game play, and system requirements are dated — but they hold a special place in gaming history!

You'll need DOSBox to run these on modern hardware.

Notes

  • Cheat mode: Press ~ (tilde) to enter cheat mode in the Grimlor and Solder Runner games.
  • Speed fix: On faster machines, Solder Runner and Grimlor II may run too fast. Edit SPEEDAT.SR or SPEEDAT.DOG and change the number to something like 300000 (higher = slower). DOSBox is also a good option.
  • Level editor: The Solder Runner download includes WinLevEd.EXE — a Windows-based level editor that also works with the Grimlor series (rename the level files first). Share any levels you create at John.Reder@TacticalNeuronics.com.
  • Solder Runner note: Only episode 1 is complete — selecting episodes 2 or 3 will load unfinished levels.
